The King’s Coronation

To mark King Charles III’s coronation on 6th May 2023, Pushed created this short animation that is inspired by the hobbies and passions of our nation’s new King. Because seventy years have elapsed since the last British coronation, which occurred in 1953, this was the first coronation during the lifetime of the majority of the British population. Pushed wanted to take this opportunity to mark the change of monarch, paying homage to King Charles III and celebrating our great country through animation. Animation is a great way to accomplish these goals because the resulting product is incredibly versatile and can be shared and re-shared across platforms, resulting in increased exposure for brands and companies.

This animation was used across social media and posted to Pushed’s website, as it not only marked the coronation but also gave Pushed the opportunity to highlight what they can offer clients. By using Adobe After Effects and Illustrator, each element of the animation is carefully customised to ensure a succinct message. The animation features clips of King Charles throughout his life, stylistically rendered within colourful stained glass windows reminiscent of the breathtaking stained glass windows of Westminster Abbey, where the coronation was held. The colours were carefully chosen to be bright, eye-catching and reflective of true stained glass hues, placed atop a dark background to enhance the focus and draw the viewer in.
