International Cat Day 2023

Pushed created this animation to raise awareness for this day and work towards highlighting the need to protect these loveable animals that bring joy and laughter to millions of people around the world. With a long history of reverence and often upheld as symbols of mystery, independence, and grace, and remaining one of the most popular domestic pets to this day, cats are a ubiquitous part of our society and, as such, International Cat Day is certainly a cause that everyone can get behind. For this animation, Pushed chose attention-grabbing graphics of cats featured with cat-related fun facts to quickly engage their audiences as this animation was designed to be shared across their social media channels.

International Cat Day is celebrated on 8th August and gives the opportunity to highlight the unique bond between humans and cats by recognising the love, joy and comfort these loveable balls of fur bring to our lives. The day was first created by Colleen Paige, who is a strong animal welfare advocate dedicated to the cause of feral and adoptable cats. The idea was to bring attention to the challenges of the domestic cat, specifically those who don't live in happy homes, in order to increase the wellbeing and adoption rates of cats across the country. Shortly after its inception, the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals adopted the day to bring attention to the number of animals that have been rescued each year and particularly to the growing problem and possible solutions to feral cat colonies.
