We were approached by Herefordshire Council’s Virtual School to create an animation that would bring their annual report to life and make it more engaging for the wide range of people who rely it.  Annual reports don’t have to be hard to read or easy to ignore.

Annual reports are essential for demonstrating progress, impact and accountability but they can often feel dense or inaccessible, especially for carers, young people and busy professionals.  By turning the report into a 2D animation, we were able to present key achievements, data and priorities in a format that feels clear, human and easy to digest.  The Virtual School wanted a way to celebrate the successes of children in care and those with a social worker without losing the nuance of the work being done behind the scenes.  Animation allowed us to highlight educational outcomes, support pathways and strategic initiatives through visual storytelling that feels warm and uplifting rather than bureaucratic.  It also gave the team a consistent, shareable tool they could use across meetings, training sessions and digital platforms.

The result is a more memorable, accessible and inclusive way of communicating the annual report, helping ensure the Virtual School’s work is understood, valued and supported by everyone involved in improving outcomes for young people in Herefordshire.
